Tuna patties are best grilled on a gas grill over medium heat or on a charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium-sized coals. Patties take only 8 to 10 minutes to cook and are ready once they are a deep golden brown. Rotate them once during cooking.
Tuna patties are an easy recipe you can make from staple pantry items. The ingredients include 1 egg, 1 1/2 cup of soft bread crumbs, 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion, 1/8 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce, 1 12-ounce can of tuna, 4 leaves of leaf lettuce, 4 burger buns, 4 slices of tomato and some tartar sauce. The recipe takes 40 minutes to prepare and serves four people.
To make the patties, preheat the grill, beat the egg in a medium-sized bowl, and then add the bread crumbs, onion, hot pepper sauce and tuna. Mix the ingredients well, and shape them into 4 patties about 3/4-inch thick. Place the patties on the grill for the required amount of time. Put the lettuce on the bottom bun, and place the cooked patty on top, followed by the tomato and the top bun. Serve with tartar sauce if desired.
Patties can also be broiled. Place them on a broiler pan, and broil them for 4 to 6 minutes over medium heat. Turn once during cooking.
