Peanut butter is the key ingredient in a wide variety of recipes, ranging from sweet to savory. Its flavor pairs well with many foods, and peanut butter can be found in cuisines around the world, including Thai, Chinese, Indian and African.
Peanuts have been used in cooking since the 15th century and are quite versatile, as well as being high in protein and fiber. In baking and sweet recipes, peanut butter cookies are a well-known North American classic, but there are many other treats that use peanut butter: rocky road squares, peanut butter cheesecake, peanut butter and banana smoothies, and homemade peanut butter cups.
