A whole turkey can be roasted overnight in the oven. Another method for slow cooking a turkey involves using a crockpot with different seasonings to cook turkey breast.
Roasting the turkey overnight requires cooking it at 170 degrees Fahrenheit one hour for each pound. Up to 48 hours before, season the turkey with salt and pepper. Place it on a roasting pan uncovered in the refrigerator to allow the skin to dry out. At 15 to 25 hours before the target time, place the turkey in a 450-degree oven for one hour to brown it. Reduce the heat to 170 F, and allow the turkey to roast slowly.
To cook a bone-in turkey breast in a slow cooker, start by cooking 5 slices of bacon in a skillet, and then crumbling the pieces. Spray the liner with cooking spray, and place a 5.5-pound turkey breast inside. Season with garlic pepper. Mix 1 can of turkey gravy with 2 tablespoons flour, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon sage and the bacon crumbles. Pour this over the turkey. Cover, and cook on low for eight hours.
A variation on this recipe calls for replacing the turkey gravy sauce with a rub made of dried garlic, seasoned salt, paprika, Italian seasoning and pepper. For this recipe, rub the turkey with olive oil, and add 1/2 cup water for cooking.
