A simple apple dessert is apple crisp. To make apple crisp, mix 5 chopped Granny Smith apples with 1/4 cup chopped pecans, 3 tablespoons flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons maple syrup and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Sprinkle toppings on the mixture then bake it.
For apple crisp topping mix together 3/4 cups flour, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Blend 6 tablespoons of chilled butter into this mixture until it forms small lumps, and then add 1/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans. Bake the crisps in 8-ounce ramekins for about 35 to 40 minutes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Pillsbury provides several simple apple dessert recipes that use its refrigerated pie crust. These include caramel apple-marshmallow tarts, apple harvest pockets, magically fast apple pie, oven-fried apple pies and apple spice jumbo pie cupcakes.
To make caramel apple-marshmallow tarts cut circles from 1 box of pie crust with a cookie cutter. Fill each center with 2 tablespoons apple pie filling, and then fold the edges over the sides. Bake the tarts for 15 to 20 minutes on a large ungreased cookie sheet at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Sprinkle miniature marshmallows over the filling, and bake for an additional four minutes. Finish the tarts with caramel topping.
