A good recipe that uses Carando's spiral sliced ham is the company's sugar-glazed versions. A sweet curry-orange glaze or an apricot glaze can be used for two completely diverse tastes. The total cooking and prep time is approximately three hours and 15 minutes.
Pre-heat the oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. After removing all packaging, place the ham face-down in a shallow roasting pan and cover with aluminum foil. Use the guideline of cooking the ham for 15 minutes for each pound. The meat should not be overdone. Remove the ham from the oven and cover with a glaze that was prepared earlier.
Increase the oven temperature to 425 F. Leaving the ham uncovered, bake for an additional eight to 10 minutes. Take the ham from the oven and cover with aluminum foil. Let rest for 20 to 30 minutes prior to serving. This recipe serves 12.
To prepare the sweet curry-orange glaze, mix 2/3 cup of light corn syrup, 1 tablespoon of curry powder and 1 tablespoon of orange peel which has been grated. Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth. For the apricot glaze, mix 1 cup of apricot preserves, 1/4 cup of orange marmalade, 2 tablespoons of orange juice, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg. Stir until smooth.
