You can use Argo & Kingsford's cornstarch in a variety of recipes ranging from savory main dishes such as Asian beef skewers to flavorful side dishes such as glazed sweet potatoes. Also use cornstarch in dessert recipes to add a soft-baked texture to cookies or to thicken your pie filling.
To make Asian beef skewers, marinate 2 pounds of cubed beef for at least four hours in the refrigerator. Make the marinade by mixing 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup light corn syrup, 3 tablespoons corn oil, 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon of grated ginger. Drain the marinade, and broil the beef for six to eight minutes approximately 6 inches from the heat source. Skewer the cooked beef before serving it.
Alternatively, make a sweet side dish by combining 4 cups of peeled, cubed sweet potatoes with 2 cups of cubed apples and 1/4 cup of dried cranberries in a greased baking dish. Make the glaze by boiling a combination of 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, 1/2 cup light corn syrup and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice in a saucepan. Cook the glaze for one minute, or until it thickens, before spreading it on top of the sweet potatoes. Bake the dish covered for 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Uncover it, and bake it for an additional 15 to 25 minutes.
