One easy breakfast recipe for kids learning to cook is cheesy eggs-in-the-hole with bacon. Fry 4 slices of bacon until crispy, and set them aside. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the baking pan. Use a cookie cutter or other tool to make holes in 4 slices of bread. Toast the bread and the cut-outs in the skillet until brown on one side. Crack 1 large egg into each hole, and sprinkle them with Parmesan cheese. Cook for 2 minutes, flip the eggs-in-the-hole, sprinkle them with more Parmesan, and cook another 2 minutes. Crumble bacon over the toast, and serve.
Tuna salad is an easy lunch recipe. Open and drain 1 can of chunky light tuna in water. Put the tuna in a medium-size mixing bowl, and flake it with a fork. Chop and stir in half a white onion. Add mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, salt and pepper to taste. Chop up a hard-boiled egg and stir in. Serve as sandwiches or over salad greens.
For dinner, kids can also make ham and pineapple pita pizzas. Put 4 pitas on an oven-safe tray, and cover them with 8 ounces of sliced ham, 8 ounces of sliced or grated fresh mozzarella and 8 ounces of drained pineapple chunks. Set the oven to 425 F, and bake the pitas for 10 to 12 minutes. Serve with a fresh salad.Learn more about Cooking
