From Salisbury steak to hamburger gravy and tater tot casserole, there's almost no end to the recipes you can create with ground beef. Most recipes begin with a pound of ground beef, add in a few spices and cook. Most ground beef recipes are ready in under an hour.
To make a simple hamburger gravy, brown 1 pound of ground beef with 1/2 cup of chopped onion. Mix in 3 tablespoons of flour, 1 tablespoon of beef bouillon and 2 tablespoons of steak sauce. Add 2 cups of milk, and bring to a boil. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes, and serve over mashed potatoes.
Salisbury steak can be made by combining 1 pound of ground beef, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of Bisquick baking mix and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper into a large mixing bowl. Blend well, and make six patties from the meat mixture. Dredge the patties in 1/4 cup of Bisquick. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet on medium heat, and place the patties into the skillet. Slice 1 medium onion, and place the slices into the skillet. Cook for 12 to 16 minutes or until the patties are cooked. Add 1 12-ounce jar of beef gravy and 1 4 1/2-ounce can of sliced mushrooms, if desired, to the skillet. Heat until boiling. Turn the patties once to coat in gravy.
