KraftRecipes, com and FoodNetwork.com both provide recipes for a strawberry pretzel dessert. The recipes use similar ingredients and preparation, but the FoodNetwork.com recipe includes crushed pineapples.
The recipe provided by KraftRecipes.com includes 1/2 cup of crushed pretzels, 1/2 cup of sugar, 2/3 cup of melted butter or margarine, 12 ounces of softened cream cheese and 2 tablespoons of milk. It also calls for 1 cup of whipped cream, 2 cups of boiling water, 1 package of strawberry-flavored gelatin, 1 1/2 cups of cold water and 4 cups of sliced strawberries.
Heat an oven to 350 degrees and then mix the pretzel crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar and butter. Press the mixture onto the bottom of a 13-by-9-inch pan, bake the mixture for 10 minutes and allow it to cool. Beat cream cheese and the remaining sugar and milk with a mixer until it is blended and then stir in the whipped cream. Spread the mixture over pretzel crust. Refrigerate it for several hours.
Make the gelatin and refrigerate it for 60 to 90 minutes. After the gelatin thickens, stir in the strawberries. Spoon the gelatin over the cream cheese. Refrigerate the dessert for about three hours.
The FoodNetwork.com recipe suggests allowing the gelatin to cool slightly before adding frozen strawberries and the crushed pineapple. Pour the mixture over the cream cheese before refrigerating the dessert.
