Martha Stewart's, Betty Crocker's and Taste of Home's recipes are all good Italian dressing recipes. Taste of Home's recipe is lowest in fat, while Martha Stewart's recipe uses the freshest ingredients.
To make Martha Stewart's Italian dressing, whisk 2 pressed garlic cloves with 2 teaspoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of dried mustard, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper and 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar. Whisk 1/2 cup of olive oil with 1/2 cup of canola oil, and gradually add the oils to the vinegar mixture, whisking until emulsified. Add in 1/4 cup of chopped fresh basil, 2 teaspoons of chopped fresh marjoram and 1 teaspoon of chopped fresh oregano.
To make Betty Crocker's Italian dressing, combine 1 cup of olive oil, 1/4 cup of cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of chopped onion, 1 tablespoon of chopped basil and 1 teaspoon of sugar, then add 1 teaspoon of ground mustard, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano leaves, 1/4 teaspoon of pepper and 2 chopped garlic cloves. Shake well to mix.
To make Taste of Home's Italian dressing, combine 5 tablespoons of apple juice concentrate, 1/4 cup of cider vinegar, 1/4 cup of lemon juice, 1 minced garlic clove and 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, then add 1/2 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of ground mustard, 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1/4 teaspoon of dried basil, 1/8 teaspoon of dried thyme and 1/8 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary. Shake well to mix.
