Drummond's homemade chili recipe is cooked over the stove and includes masa harina, a Mexican corn flour found at many supermarkets. Cook 2 pounds ground beef along with 2 cloves garlic in a large pot, adding in 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce and spices including 1 teaspoon each of chili powder, cumin and oregano and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Simmer mixture for one hour, and stir in the masa harina mixture, stirring to blend well. Add 1 can each of kidney and pinto beans, and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve chili with shredded cheddar cheese and chopped onions, and garnish with tortilla chips.
Slow cooker chili is made by cooking 1 1/2 pounds ground beef in a skillet pan along with 1 chopped onion, 1 small chopped green pepper and 2 cloves minced garlic. Drain meat and vegetables, and transfer to a slow cooker. Pour in 2 cans kidney beans and 2 cans diced tomatoes, and stir in spices such as 2 tablespoons chili powder and 1 tablespoon each of ground cumin, salt and pepper.
