A Betty Crocker recipe for chili contains ground beef, beans and spices, while a recipe from Kraft also uses cheese and corn; prepare either in a slow cooker or on a stove. Regulate the heat of the chili by adding more chili pepper or including chopped peppers.
To prepare the Betty Crocker chili in a slow cooker, brown 2 pounds of ground beef in a skillet with 1 finely chopped onion. Drain the fat from the meat and onion mixture and add it to the slow cooker. Finely chop 2 cloves of garlic and add them to the slow cooker with 1 can diced tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce and 1 can of chili beans. Add 2 tablespoons chili powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons cumin and 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper to the slow cooker and stir. Cover and cook on low for seven to eight hours or on high for three to four hours.
The Kraft recipe for chili uses 1 1/2 pounds browned hamburger, 2 cans red kidney beans drained and rinsed, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 1/2 cups chunky salsa, 1 chopped onion and 1 cup frozen corn. Place ingredients in a slow cooker, add 2 tablespoons chili powder and cook on low for five to six hours or on high for three to four hours. Serve topped with shredded cheese.
