What Is a Good Recipe for a Top-Shelf Vodka Martini?

A good recipe for a top-shelf vodka martini includes one's preferred brand of high-end vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and fresh lime juice. Some top-shelf vodka brands are Belvedere, Grey Goose, Absolut, Ketel One and Stoli.

If one does not have triple sec to use for this recipe, Cointreau is a great substitution. Drink makers can also use any citrus flavored high-end vodka to add a delicious flavor to this martini. It is important to use fresh lime juice, not bottled, to achieve the best flavor results. A nice touch to add to this drink is to place a fresh orange peel in the glass. This garnish adds a decorative touch as well as a bit of sweetness when someone takes a sip. Make sure to peel the orange over the drink so that any excess juice falls into the drink and consider rubbing the rim of the glass with an orange peel.

To prepare this drink, fill a cocktail shaker with 2 ounces of vodka, 1/2 ounce of triple sec, 3 ounces of cranberry juice and 1 to 2 ounces of lime juice. Shake all the ingredients until chilled, about 30 seconds, and then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with the orange peel. To make a larger batch, fill a pitcher with four times the amount of the ingredients and stir well. Refrigerate until ready to serve, and then pour the cocktail into four martini glasses.
