What Is a Good Recipe for Pan-Fried Gnocchi?

Pan-fried gnocchi, peas and bacon is a simple dish that uses frozen gnocchi. An option for vegetarians is to pan fry gnocchi with pesto and Parmesan cheese. Gnocchi and pesto are available in supermarkets, but cooks can also make them at home from scratch.

To make gnocchi with peas and bacon, cook a 1-pound packet of frozen gnocchi. In a separate pan, fry 3 ounces of chopped bacon, and set aside to drain.

In the same pan, brown two medium onions, and add a 1/2 cup of frozen peas along with minced fresh thyme. Put the onion mixture into a bowl when it is cooked.

Wipe down the skillet, and pour in the drained gnocchi. Fry the gnocchi gently until it starts to turn golden brown. Add the bacon and onions to the pan, along with Parmesan to taste. Stir in a little of the gnocchi's cooking water to coat the pasta.

Serve immediately with extra Parmesan cheese.

For homemade pesto, combine basil, garlic and pine nuts in a food processor. Slowly add olive oil while the food processor is running, until you reach the desired consistency. Pulse the food processor while adding Parmesan cheese.

Boil the gnocchi and fry it over a medium-high heat, then stir in the pesto. Serve with Parmesan cheese to garnish.
