Chocolate peanut butter bonbons is a good bonbon recipe that calls for only a few ingredients: peanut butter, butter, powdered sugar, chocolate and Rice Krispies cereal. Another good recipe forgoes the cereal but adds pecans and dates instead.
Make peanut butter bonbons by mixing together 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter and 2 cups of peanut butter, then stirring in 1 pound of powdered sugar and 3 cups of crushed Rice Krispies cereal. Form the mixture into balls, and chill them for at least two hours before adding the chocolate coating. In a microwave or double boiler, melt 1 pound of chocolate candy coating. Dip the peanut butter balls into the melted chocolate using a fork, and place the balls on wax paper in the refrigerator until the chocolate sets.
To make another tasty bonbon recipe, mix together 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of softened butter, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 cup each of chopped pecans and dates if desired. Spoon the peanut butter balls onto a cookie sheet, and chill. Combine 2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips in a bowl, and microwave them at medium power for two minutes, stirring once during the cooking time. Add in another 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips, and stir until they melt. Dip the peanut butter balls in the melted chocolate, and place them on waxed paper for an hour before serving.
