A basic recipe for vodka lemonade calls for one part vodka to four parts lemonade. To make a single serving, combine 1 ounce of vodka with 4 ounces of lemonade. Serve the drink over plenty of ice.
Experiment with different flavors of lemonade to give the drink fruity flavor. Any lemonade flavored with berries pairs nicely with vodka, as does pink lemonade.
Flavored vodka also works for this purpose. Opt for raspberry, pineapple or strawberry vodka to keep the drink fairly sweet. Vodka flavored with lime or other citrus fruits give the drink tartness. Avoid vanilla vodka.
Add mint sprigs or frozen berries to the drink to give it additional flavor and pleasing color. Put the mint or berries into the glass before adding any other ingredient. Crush these additions with a muddler or a wooden spoon to release their flavor, and then add the ice and liquid.
Use a can of frozen lemonade from concentrate to make a big batch of this drink. Substitute vodka for up to 1 cup of the required water.
