Cheese lover's macaroni and cheese is one good recipe using Sargento cheese and is available from the Sargento website. The recipe uses the brand's Muenster, mild cheddar, sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
To prepare the recipe, cook 1 pound of elbow macaroni according to package directions. While it's cooking, place 1/4 cup butter in a large saucepan, and melt it over high heat. Without removing the pan from the heat, pour in 1/4 cup flour, and continue to stir the mixture for one minute. Pour in 1/2 teaspoon salt and 4 cups milk. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently, and reduce it to a simmer for an additional two minutes or until it begins to thicken. Pour in 3 cups Sargento shredded sharp cheddar cheese and 4 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese, and add the macaroni.
Pour 4 cups of the cheesy macaroni into two 8-inch baking dishes before adding a layer of 1 cup of Sargento shredded mozzarella and half of an 8-ounce package of Sargento sliced Muenster cheese. Add another 4 cups macaroni and a layer of the cheeses, and pour the rest of the macaroni over the top. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar and 1/2 cup breadcrumbs over the macaroni before placing the dishes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake until the mixture begins to bubble, about 40 to 45 minutes.
