The Food Network has a good homemade pizza dough recipe from chef Bobby Flay. This recipe requires the chef to combine flour, sugar, and other dry ingredients with olive oil and water. The dough must rise before baking it as a pizza crust.
To make the pizza dough, use bread flour instead of all-purpose flour in order to create a crust that has a crispier consistency. Otherwise, all-purpose flour will make the crust more chewy. The recipes makes 2 crusts, each one 14 inches in diameter/

Total Time: 1 hr, 30 min.
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups of flour
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 envelope of instant dry yeast
- 2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1 1/2 cups of water at 110 degrees Fahrenheit
- 2 tbsp. plus 2 tsp. of olive oil
- Mix ingredients in stand mixer
- Let dough rise
Mix dry ingredients in a stand mixer, and keep it running while adding water and 2 tbsp. of olive oil until a ball of dough forms. Add more flour as needed to minimize the stickiness of the dough. Add water if the dough is too dry. Knead the dough on a floured surface.
Grease a large bowl using olive oil and put in the dough. Cover with plastic wrap and put the bowl in a warm place where it can rise for an hour. Once it rises, divide it in half and cover each half with plastic wrap. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before rolling out for pizza dough.
