Taste of Home has a good recipe for an herb mix for dipping oil that combines garlic, rosemary, oregano, basil and crushed red pepper flakes, along with salt and pepper. The mix makes about 24 servings and takes five minutes to prepare.
To make Taste of Home's herb mix for dipping oil, mix 1 tablespoon of dried minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of crushed dried rosemary, 1 tablespoon of dried oregano, 2 teaspoons of dried basil and 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of coarsely ground black pepper.
To make the dipping oil, combine 4 teaspoons of the herb mix with 1 tablespoon of water. Microwave the mixture for 10 to 15 seconds, and drain the extra water. Place the herbs on a small serving plate, pour 1/2 cup of olive oil over the herbs, and stir together.
To make McCormick's Italian herb bread dipping oil, mix 8 twists from McCormick sea salt grinder, 1 teaspoon of grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon of rosemary leaves or Italian seasoning in a small dish. Pour 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil over the spice mixture, and stir together gently.
