First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9-inch by 13-inch baking pan and set aside for later use.
Add 1 ounce, or 4 squares, of unsweetened chocolate and 1 cup of butter to a 3-quart saucepan. Melt the ingredients over very low heat, stirring constantly. Once melted, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 2 cups of white sugar, then allow the chocolate mixture to cool a little. Next, beat in 4 eggs, one at a time, stirring the mixture thoroughly after each egg. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for flavor.
In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, then gradually stir it into the chocolate mixture. Fold in 2 cups of chopped walnuts to complete your batter. Pour the batter evenly into the baking pan, and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 to 35 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the center of the dish; if it comes out clean, the brownies are done cooking. Cool the brownies in the pan on the wire rack before serving.Learn more about Desserts
