Taste of Home and AllRecipes.com both offer blue cheese salad dressing recipes on their websites. Taste of Home’s recipe makes 32 servings, while the recipe from AllRecipes.com serves six.
To make Taste of Home’s chunky blue cheese dressing, combine 1/4 cup milk, 3 cups mayonnaise and 8 ounces of sour cream in a blender. Add 4 ounces of crumbled blue cheese and 2 teaspoons garlic salt, and blend until smooth. Refrigerate the dressing until ready to serve. The recipe makes around 4 cups. The recipe for chunky blue cheese dressing first appeared in the February/March 2005 issue of Taste of Home.
Prepare AllRecipe.com’s version of blue cheese dressing by using a fork to mash 2 1/2 ounces of blue cheese in a bowl with 3 tablespoons buttermilk. Mash the mixture until it takes on the consistency of large-curd cottage cheese. Next, add 3 tablespoons sour cream and 3 tablespoons mayonnaise, and stir in 2 teaspoons white wine vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon sugar and 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder. Add freshly ground black pepper and salt to taste. For a milder flavor, substitute regular whole milk for the buttermilk. When stored in an airtight container, the dressing keeps in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
