One good recipe for chocolate crinkle cookies is the one from Betty Crocker. This recipe makes approximately 72 cookies and takes three hours and 45 minutes to prepare and cook.
To make the cookies, melt 4 ounces of unsweetened baking chocolate, and then allow it to cool. Add it to a large mixing bowl, and combine it with 2 cups of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla. Add 4 eggs, one at a time, stirring thoroughly between each egg. Mix in 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Stir the ingredients until thoroughly incorporated, and then cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Let the dough set in the refrigerator for a minimum of three hours.
When you are ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and coat a baking sheet with nonstick spray or vegetable shortening. Take a teaspoon of the dough, and form it into a ball. Add 1/2 cup of powdered sugar to a shallow dish, and roll the dough ball in the sugar to coat.
Place the coated cookie dough balls on the baking sheet, allowing approximately 2 inches between each cookie. Bake the dough for 10 to 12 minutes. The cookies are ready when pressing gently on the center does not leave an imprint.
