Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine the milk, eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla in a bowl. Place six custard cups into a baking pan and fill them with the custard mixture. Fill the pan with enough water so that the cups are halfway submerged. Bake the custard cups in the oven for one hour.
