Well-regarded Nasoya recipes include a recipe for tofu sloppy Joes and a recipe for chipotle tofu hummus. The sloppy Joes recipe calls for firm tofu, while the hummus recipe requires silken tofu.
To make the tofu sloppy Joes, warm up 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a saucepan over moderately high heat. Fry 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped green pepper and 2 minced garlic cloves until they soften. Stir in 1 package of crumbled Nasoya firm tofu and 2 tablespoons of low-sodium soy sauce. Cook the mixture for five minutes before adding 2 cups of tomato sauce, 1 tablespoon of chili powder and 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder. Boil the mixture briefly, and then lower the heat and allow the mixture to simmer for approximately three minutes before serving it with toasted buns.
To make the chipotle tofu hummus, thoroughly drain 1 can of chickpeas, and place the chickpeas in a food processor, along with 1 cup of Nasoya silken tofu, 2 tablespoons of tahini, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil. Add 2 garlic cloves, 2 canned chipotle peppers, 1/2 teaspoon of canned adobo sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin and 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Thoroughly blend all the ingredients together to form a smooth mixture, and use it as a dip or a spread.
