Fresh lemonade, thyme and lime lemonade and tropical lemonade are some good lemonade recipes. Classic lemonade is made with lemons, sugar and water. Add additional fruits and herbs to create a more sophisticated beverage.
To make FoodNetwork.com's recipe for fresh lemonade, place 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup superfine white sugar, 4 cups water and 1 cup crushed ice in a blender. Process until smooth and serve over ice. Add more or less sugar according to taste.
For thyme and lime lemonade, first make basic lemonade according to a recipe, or use store-bought bottled lemonade. In a large pitcher, add 1/4 cup fresh lime juice and 10 sprigs fresh thyme. Mash the herbs with a wooden spoon. Add 3 cups prepared lemonade and refrigerate for at least one hour. Serve chilled. This recipe may also be served as a cocktail by adding 3/4 cup vodka.
To make tropical lemonade, place 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a large pitcher. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Add an additional 5 cups water, two 6-ounce cans pineapple juice, a 12-ounce can apricot nectar and two 12-ounce cans ginger ale. Add ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices.
