Kraft features recipes for layered desserts such as creamy layered fruit sensation and cherry chocolate layered dessert. Each recipe involves half an hour of prep time, plus several hours of refrigeration time.
To make the cherry chocolate layered dessert, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine 9 ounces finely crushed chocolate wafer cookies with 1/2 cup melted butter, and press into the bottom of a 13-by-9-inch pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, and set aside. In a bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups boiling water with 2 3-ounce packages cherry flavored gelatin, and stir for two minutes. Place 8 ounces softened cream cheese in a large bowl, and slowly add the gelatin mixture. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, and add 1 cup whipped topping. Pour the mixture into the crust, and refrigerate for two hours. Spread 1 1/2 cups whipped topping on top, and garnish with 2 1/4 cups fresh dark sweet cherries and 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate. Dust with 1 teaspoon powdered sugar.
To make the creamy layered fruit sensation, combine 3 tablespoons orange juice and 1/4 teaspoon almond extract. Pour over 10 ounces cut angel food cake, and set aside. In a bowl, combine 2 1-ounce packages vanilla instant pudding and 2 1/2 cups cold milk. Stir, and add 1 cup whipped topping. Layer half the cake in a glass bowl, and top with 12 ounces thawed mixed berries and half the pudding. Repeat, and refrigerate for two hours. Top with 1/2 cup whipped topping.
