To make Indian Fry Bread, whisk together 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and then stir in 1 1/2 cups of warm water until the ingredients are just combined. Lightly knead out the dough on a floured surface. Cut the dough into round balls, and press them into flat 1/4-inch thick patties. Fry the dough patties in oil for a minute or two on each side.
Make the recipe from Pioneer Woman by combining 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 3 teaspoons of baking powder in a bowl and working in 3/4 cup of milk with a fork. Knead in just enough water for the dough to form into a ball, and allow it to rest covered for 35 to 45 minutes. Melt 2 inches of shortening in a skillet over medium-high heat, and add pieces of the dough flattened into 4- to 7-inch diameter circles. Fry the bread for one minute on each side, and serve the fry bread topped with ground beef, shredded lettuce and cheese.Learn more about Bread
