Making scrambled eggs is a good technique for kids to try their hand at and eat, and requires simple skills to prepare. Eggs are high in protein, making them an excellent addition to a child's diet.
Getting kids involved with the preparation and cooking can help encourage trying new things, as they can see exactly what is going into the meal. A simple scrambled egg recipe is as follows:
- Beat the eggs
First, crack around three to four eggs into a mixing bowl (more or less can be added depending on how many people are eating), then whisk together, adding a little salt and pepper. Once mixed, start to melt a chunk of butter in a pan.
Once the butter has melted into a liquid, pour the egg mixture into the pan. Gently stir the eggs (a wooden spoon is good for this), being careful not to create too much movement in the pan. Keep stirring gently until the eggs start to clump together but are still wet. If cooked for too long, the eggs will turn dry and start to burn. For the best results, leave take the pan off the heat when the eggs are still a little runny.
Spoon the eggs over some warm buttered toast or pancakes and serve. Fresh herbs or a little extra pepper can also be added to taste.
