To make Ina Garten's recipe, heat 3 tablespoons oil, and cook 1 1/2 cups chopped onions. Add two 28-ounce cans of tomatoes, 1/4 cup red wine vinegar, 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1/2 cup raisins, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 3/4 teaspoons pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes, and set aside. In a large pot of boiling water, cook 1 large cabbage. Remove 14 leaves. In a bowl, combine 2 1/2 pounds ground chuck, three large eggs, 1/2 cup chopped onions, 1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup uncooked rice, 1 teaspoon minced thyme, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Add 1 cup sauce, and mix. Preheat the oven to 350 F, and add 1 cup sauce to a pot. Place 1/3 to 1/2 cup meat mixture in each leaf, and roll. Place in the pot, and add more sauce. Bake for one hour.
To make Bobby Flay's recipe, preheat the oven to 350 F. Steam 1/2 pound rice and one head of cabbage. Peel the cabbage leaves. Combine one chopped onion, 1 teaspoon oil, 1 teaspoon vegetable bouillon, the rice and 1/2 pound ground pork. Season with salt and pepper, and roll golf-ball-sized balls into each leaf. Place in a baking pan, and add two chopped carrots and two chopped celery stalks. Bake for 1 1/2 hours.Learn more about Vegetables
