For the Food Network recipe, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Coat a 13-by-9-inch baking pan with butter and flour.
Stir 1 cup melted unsalted butter into a bowl containing 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar. Mix 2 1/4 cups flour, 3/4 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt in another bowl. Beat 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into the sugar. Gradually add the flour mixture to the sugar, stirring until the batter is thick and smooth. If desired, add 1 1/2 cups of butterscotch, peanut butter, white chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Pour mix into the baking dish, and bake 20 to 25 minutes, until edges are light brown. Let cool a bit, then remove from the pan onto a rack to cool fully before cutting and serving.Learn more about Desserts
