Both the Food Network and the Cooking Channel provide good BBQ sauce recipes for meatballs. One includes a variety of ingredients and the other requires ingredients found in most households.
The Food Network recipe includes 1 cup of ketchup, 4 to 6 tablespoons of minced onion, 3 tablespoons of distilled white vinegar, and 2 tablespoons of sugar, along with 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and a dash of hot sauce.
Combine the ingredients, then drizzle the mixture over heated meatballs. Cook them in the oven at 350 Fahrenheit for approximately 45 minutes.
The Cooking Channel recipe includes 1 pound of sliced bacon, 1/2 cup of olive oil, one chopped carrot, one chopped celery stalk and one chopped onion. It also includes four cloves of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of fresh minced rosemary, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1 1/2 glasses of Chianti. Other ingredients include one small can of tomato paste, one small can of chipotle peppers, three cans of chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper, and 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
Use a large pot to heat the bacon in olive oil, then add the vegetables. Add the rosemary and brown sugar, then add the Chianti and apple cider vinegar. Finally, add the tomato paste, chipotles and chopped tomatoes. Allow the sauce to simmer for approximately one hour, while stirring it occasionally.
