Baked Brie recipes call for one wheel of Brie cheese, frozen puff pastry, butter and egg. Fillings to place between the cheese and pastry can be sweet or savory, such as jam, nuts and spices like cinnamon or parsley.
A good baked Brie recipe has two main ingredients: puff pastry and a wheel of Brie cheese. Buying a frozen puff pastry makes it even easier. Once the puff pastry is thawed, roll it out onto a floured surface. Place the Brie in the center of the pastry, discarding the top side of the rind. To fill with jam and nuts, first sauté the nuts in butter until they are golden brown. Mix the nuts into 1/2 cup of jam and spread the mixture on top of the cheese wheel.
To close the pastry around the wheel, lift all four corners of the dough together above the wheel and slightly twist the corners together. Pinch or tie the corners together with twine. Use one beaten egg to paint the outside of the dough with a basting brush, sealing the cheese and fillings inside. Bake the Brie at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes or until the pastry is a golden brown color.
