Betty Crocker has a good apple fritter recipe that takes 25 minutes from start to finish. Kraft also has a good apple fritter recipe that takes about 30 minutes to prepare.
To prepare Betty Crocker's apple fritter recipe, heat vegetable oil to 350 F in a deep fryer or a 4-quart heavy saucepan. Stir 2 cups of Bisquick, 1/2 cup of cold water, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon together in a large mixing bowl. Chop 1 large Granny Smith apple and fold into the mixture. Drop the batter into the hot oil in batches using a tablespoon, a small ice cream scoop, or a melon baller, and cook for two or three minutes or until they turn golden-brown, turning occasionally. Remove the fritters from the hot oil with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
To make Kraft's version of apple fritters, blend 2 cups of baking mix, 1 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of sour cream in a mixing bowl. Stir in 1 cup of peeled and chopped Granny Smith apples and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add one-quarter of the batter and repeat three times, flattening each one using the back of a spatula. Cook for two minutes on each side or until each side is golden-brown, place on an oven-proof plate, and put into a pre-heated 200 F oven to keep warm until time to serve. Repeat the process with the rest of the oil and batter. Sprinkle with powdered sugar prior to serving if desired.
