Popular appetizer dip recipes include a creamy pesto dip, a vegetarian black bean dip and a pepperoni pizza dip. To prepare the pesto dip, combine 1 cup of mayonnaise, one 7-ounce container of pesto sauce and 1 cup of sour cream in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste.
To prepare a creamy black bean dip, rinse and drain one 15-ounce can of black beans. Place the beans in a food processor along with 1 clove of garlic, 1/4 cup of sour cream and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cumin. Add 1/4 cup of tightly-packed cilantro leaves, 2 tablespoons of lime juice and 1 teaspoon of salt. Purée the mixture until it is nearly smooth. Adjust the salt to taste.
Alternatively, to make a warm pepperoni-mushroom pizza dip, evenly spread one 8-ounce package of softened cream cheese in the bottom of an ungreased, microwave-safe, pie plate. Top the cream cheese with one 4 1/2-ounce drained can of chopped olives and one 4-ounce can of chopped mushrooms. Add 1/3 cup of chopped onion, 24 slices of pre-cooked pepperoni and one 8-ounce can of pizza sauce. Sprinkle the dip with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. Place the dip in the microwave, and cook it at medium-power, uncovered, for 7 to 10 minutes or until it is completely heated through and the cheese is melted. Serve the dip with crackers.
