To make the crust, take 3 cups of flour, a cup of vegetable shortening, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Mix all of the dry ingredients together, and then cut in the shortening. In a second bowl, mix the water and vinegar along with 1 large egg, and then pour it into the flour mixture. Mix everything together before rolling it out flat, and place it into a pie pan.
For the filling, mix 1 cup of flour, 1 tablespoon of shortening and 2/3 cup of brown sugar. Save 1/2 cup of the mixture, and in another bowl, mix 1 cup of molasses, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Add 3/4 cup of boiling water, and mix it thoroughly.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and cut the crust dough to fit the pan. Fill the dough with the filling, and then top with the remaining flour mixture. Bake the pie for 18 minutes, and then lower the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit before cooking for an additional 18 to 20 minutes.
