There are two methods for making glazed pecans and cooks can choose the glazed pecans recipe from Pillsbury or the honey-glazed pecans featured at Epicurious. The Pillsbury recipe makes a maple syrup and brown sugar glaze and the Epicurious recipe uses honey and white sugar.
Glazing pecans to use in salad recipes is easy to do, and to make the Pillsbury recipe the first step is to line a baking sheet with parchment paper, after heating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet pan over medium heat. Stir in 2 tablespoons each of packed dark brown sugar and maple syrup, and continue stirring until mixture begins to bubble. Add 2 cups pecan halves to the pan, cooking and stirring for several minutes to completely coat the nuts. Spread the nuts onto the prepared baking sheet, and bake until golden brown.
Honey glazed pecans from Epicurious makes 1 cup of sweetened nuts and uses 1 cup pecans, 1/3 cup warm honey and 1 tablespoon sugar. Coat the pecans in the warm honey, and spread nuts into a shallow baking pan. Sprinkle nuts with sugar, place in the middle of the oven, and bake for 15 minutes. Stir once, and continue baking for another five minutes. Place warm nuts onto a sheet of parchment paper or aluminum foil, separate nuts with a fork, and cool for one hour.
