Galaxy chocolate, known as Dove Chocolate in the United States, was created in 1956. Greek-American founder Leo Stefanos got the concept for the ice cream bar from watching his son chase an ice cream truck and being worried for his safety. He named it "DOVEBAR" because of its peaceful quality.
The Dove Chocolate Bar is known as the Galaxy Bar in the United Kingdom. It was originally a chocolate-covered ice cream bar. Since its conception, the range of Galaxy Bars has expanded to include classic chocolate bars. As of 2014, there are several types and flavors of Galaxy Bars, including Honeycomb Crisp, Cookie Crumble, Nut Crunch and Caramel.
