Lemons and limes should be frozen in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and then placed in freezer bags. Lemons and limes can be preserved whole or in sections.
- Gather equipment
You will need a baking sheet, parchment paper, a sharp knife, a cutting board and gallon- or quart-size freezer bags.
- Prepare the fruit
Wash the lemons or limes thoroughly with mild soap and water.
- Line the baking sheet
Line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the fruit for freezing
Place lemons or limes on the cutting board, and cut the fruit into wedges or slices. Place cut fruit in a single layer on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Freeze the fruit
Place the baking sheet in the freezer until all fruit is frozen. Remove individual pieces and place them in freezer bags, removing as much air from the bag as possible before sealing. Be sure the fruit is not stacked or layered so that you can easily remove individual pieces as needed. Return the bags to the freezer until ready to use.
