Many of these foods might be expected to contain high levels of acidity and therefore lead to pH imbalances; however, some ostensibly "healthy" foods are also high in acidity. These include lentils, whole-wheat pasta, walnuts, oats, brown rice and low-fat yogurt.
The ideal pH level for blood in the human body is between 7.35 and 7.45, according to Healthline. This makes a slightly more alkaline diet preferable to a more acidic one. A highly acidic diet can lead to problems such as uric acid kidney stones, cancers, liver and heart diseases. Highly acidic foods may also be linked to the deterioration of bones and muscles.
Generally, fruits and vegetables are alkaline-forming when digested; however, there are some exceptions, including berries and plums.
