Foil pouches are storage containers made of aluminum foil. The pouches are sealed on at least two and sometimes all four sides. They are used for food and sometimes non-food packaging. The quality varies depending on the number of layers of foil used to create the pouch.
Some benefits of foil pouches include opacity that protects light sensitive products, a solid surface that allows printing to be more easily read, the ability to insulate a product from extreme temperatures, cost efficiency and puncture resistance as compared to clear plastic packaging. The biggest disadvantages of foil pouches are that customers cannot see the product before purchase due to the opaque nature of foil and that they cannot be used in microwaves due to fire danger.
