Examples of ideal vegetable to include in a bland diet are peas, carrots, green beans and zucchini. Avoid gaseous vegetables, such as cabbage, onions, broccoli and peppers. Additionally, consider eating cooked, canned or frozen vegetable since a bland diet allows only soft foods.
Fruits are a nutritious option to consume on a bland diet. Canned peaches, bananas, fruit cocktail and applesauce are allowed in a bland diet. For successful results, avoid acidic fruits such as grapefruits oranges, blueberries and strawberries. Just like vegetables, all fruits should be canned or cooked to make them soft.
Dairy products are a good source of vitamin D, calcium and other minerals. Dairy products, such cheese and milk, are allowed in a bland diet since they are digested easily.
