Do You Eat the Skin of an Asian Pear?

The skin of an Asian pear is edible. The skin tends to have a rougher texture than most other types of pears, and it tends to be a tan color.

Asian pears are suitable for eating raw. Their texture is more crisp than the soft, grainy texture generally associated with pears. Raw Asian pears can be sliced or diced into salads. Baked or poached Asian apples can be served with ice cream. Asian pears can also be cooked in crisps or tarts. Their mild, sweet taste works well with other subtle flavors like vanilla without overwhelming them, and they coordinate well with ginger as well as with other fruits.
