Taste of Home offers an easy-to-make orange dream torte recipe that makes use of pre-packaged ladyfingers, whipped topping and cream cheese. The recipe yields 12 servings.
To make orange dream torte, dissolve 1 3-ounce package of orange gelatin in 2/3 cup of boiling water in a large bowl, then stir in 1/2 cup of cold water. Cover the mixture, and refrigerate it for approximately 30 minutes. Remove it from the refrigerator, and fold in 3 cups of frozen thawed whipped topping from a 16-ounce container. Set the mixture to the side.
Beat 1 8-ounce package of softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup of sugar in a small bowl until smooth, gradually beating in 1/4 cup of milk. Fold in the remainder of the whipped topping.
Oil the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan, and sprinkle the bottom with 1/4 cup of graham cracker crumbs. Split 1 3-ounce package of ladyfingers, and arrange them around the edge of the springform pan. Set 1 1/2 cups of the orange mixture to the side, and alternate between spooning in the remaining orange mixture and the cream cheese mixture in layers. Spread the remaining orange mixture on the top, and refrigerate the pan for an hour before removing the sides and garnishing the top with 1 11-ounce can of drained mandarin oranges.
