Some easy tea biscuit recipes are AllRecipes.com's tea biscuits and Epicurious' Basic Plain Tea Biscuits. Both recipes consist of six or less ingredients and are prepared in 30 minutes or less.
For AllRecipes.com's tea biscuit recipe, mix together 2 cups flour, 4 teaspoons baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt. Add in 1/2 cup shortening until the mixture is the texture of fine crumbs. Pour in 3/4 cup milk, and stir with a fork until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough eight to 10 times, then roll out to at least a 1/2-inch thickness.
Use a biscuit or cookie cutter to cut the dough into rounds, and place on a greased baking sheet. Let the dough rest for a few minutes, then bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes. Serve the biscuits warm along with butter, jelly or honey.
Epicurious' tea biscuit recipe uses the same ingredients for the dough, except 1 tablespoon sugar is added to the mix and the salt is reduced to 1/2 teaspoon. Some possible dough mix-ins include 1/2 cup raisins or grated cheese with 3 tablespoons basil. Instead of kneading the dough by hand, place the dough in a bread maker and have it do the kneading.
