There are many simple ways to prepare steak including on the grill, in an oven or in a skillet. No matter what the cooking method, the recipes can be as simple as basting the steak with garlic butter or as elaborate as using the steak to make beef stroganoff.
An easy pepper-steak recipe from Betty Crocker starts with brushing the racks of a grill with vegetable oil. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of butter, 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh basil and 2 teaspoons of lemon pepper seasoning. Sprinkle the steaks with 1/4 teaspoon of garlic salt and brush with butter mixture. When the coals have reached the desired temperature or a gas grill has reached medium heat, place the steaks on the grill. Place two halved bell peppers that have been seeded on the grill and brush with the butter mixture.
Cover and grill for 12 to 16 minutes, turning once during grilling. Brush the tops of steaks with butter mixture when the steaks are turned. When cooking is complete, slice the bell pepper into thin strips and serve over the steaks.
Another easy steak recipe creates a rub using 2 tablespoons of cracked peppercorns, 1 1/2 teaspoons of dried thyme, 1 teaspoon of ground cumin and 1 teaspoon of garlic salt. Brush the steaks lightly with vegetable oil, and then add the rub. Cover the steaks, and grill for 10 to 12 minutes.
