The quick and easy skillet-based sausage and rice recipes from MyRecipes and Kraft feature smoked sausage, rice, vegetables and seasonings. Both recipes call for fewer than 10 ingredients.
Make skillet sausage 'n' rice according to the instructions from MyRecipes by chopping 16 ounces of smoked sausage into 1/2-inch slices. Brown the sausages in a large skillet, and set them aside. Fry 1 chopped green bell pepper, 1 chopped onion and 1 minced clove of garlic in the sausage drippings. When the vegetables are tender, pour in 1 cup of chicken broth, and bring the mixture to a boil.
Return the sausage pieces to the skillet and stir in 7 ounces of quick-cooking brown rice, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Lower the heat, and allow the mixture to simmer, covered, for five minutes or until the rice is cooked through. Serve the dish with a sprinkling of chopped fresh parsley.
Follow Kraft's 15-minute recipe for sausage and rice by cooking 1 chopped green bell pepper and 1 chopped onion with 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes and 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat for two minutes. Stir in 14 ounces of sliced smoked sausage and 14.5 ounces of canned no-salt-added diced tomatoes. Bring the mixture to a boil, and incorporate 3 cups of instant white rice. Simmer the mixture over low heat for five minutes, and stir it again just before serving.
