A more complex marinade recipe can be used to make teriyaki-flavored beef jerky. The ingredients for the marinade are 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons of kosher salt, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper, 2/3 cup of bottled teriyaki marinade, 1/2 cup of orange juice, 1/4 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke.
Whisk together all of the ingredients in a medium sized mixing bowl. Place the strips of meat into a zip lock bag, and pour the teriyaki marinade over them. Refrigerate the meat for anywhere between 24 and 36 hours.
