Sloppy Joe is a relatively easy recipe, made with ground beef, tomato sauce, vegetables and seasonings, and the dish can be completed in under an hour. While a classic sloppy Joe is best served along with soft buns, the beef mixture can also be served atop pasta.

Sloppy Joes also go well and is better served with pickles or potato chips. Leftover beef mixture can be divided into serving sizes and kept in the freezer for up to 3 months.

- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- Coarse salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 toasted hamburger buns, sliced in half
- Cook the vegetables
- Add the beef
- Add the sauces
- Season to taste
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, celery, garlic and then season with salt and ground black pepper according to taste. Cook and stir for about 5 to 7 minutes.
Add the beef into the vegetable mixture and cook while breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon. Cook until the beef has lost its pink color.
Pour the tomato sauce, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce into the skillet. Cook and stir until thickened.
Season with more salt and pepper according to taste. Scoop into hamburger buns and serve.
