This recipe was originally published on Serious Eats. It takes less than 30 minutes to make and is a great way to use fresh fruit in the summer. Cooks can customize the recipe by substituting other fruit for strawberries.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon confectioners sugar
  1. Prepare the berries
  2. Stem, hull and slice the berries. Mix the berries and the 2 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl and let them sit for 15 minutes at room temperature.

  3. Prepare the oven and baking sheet
  4. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper. Turn on the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
