Rice pudding is made by heating 3 cups of milk, 2 cups of cooked white rice, 1/2 cup of raisins, 1/3 cup of sugar, as well as cinnamon and salt to taste. The mixture is brought to a boil and then left to simmer for approximately 20 minutes until all the milk is absorbed and the pudding has thickened.

Different versions of rice pudding originate from all over the world. Another variation is Persian Saffron Rice Pudding, which incorporates the use of saffron, cardamom, cinnamon, rosewater and pistachios for a unique flavor.
